    At first, the archaeologists worked under the assumption that only a small number of timbers would be recorded…

    Each timber had to be carefully cleaned before a FaroArm was used to record each ship timber into the computer to produce 3-dimensional rotatable images.

    Although the Ship was in dock for repair or dismantling so not full of cargo or personal possessions the excavation found a number fascinating artefacts.

    The conservation process for the Newport Ship has differed from that undertaken for famous ships like the Mary Rose and Vasa.
