Autumn 2026

The 2026 Friends of the Newport Ship AGM will take place on Saturday 10th October 2026 at 2.30pm. at the Transporter Bridge Visitor Centre.

We are delighted to welcome, as our guest speaker, Paul Barnett, a maritime historian whose talk is entitled A wreckers tale covering the intentional beaching of iron and steel vessels at the entrance of the Sharpness dock in order to recover the materials they contain, also including several connections with the nearby Cashmore’s wrecking yard in Newport.

The programme will be:

  • 2.30 - 3.30 pm Talk

  • 3.30 – 4.00 pm Break with refreshments

  • 4.00 – 5.00 pm Friends of the Newport Ship AGM

KIDS craft activities at the Ship Centre

Autumn Half Term; Friday 30 October 2026, 11:00- 15:00. Event is suitable for 3yrs – 10yrs.
Note: Parent/guardian will need to stay with the child while at the event.


Last day of the 2026 visitor season

With the approach of winter and the nights drawing in our 2026 season comes to a close. Saturday 31st October will be the final day FoNS volunteers will open the ship centre to the public.

Admission is free. Donations Welcome.
