Special Curator Talks & Tours

As part of the Newport Ship Project’s outreach, the project curator Dr Toby Jones, and Friends of Newport Ship are available to visit groups, organisations and societies to talk about the project and why the Newport Medieval Ship is so important. The date and times of these talks will be listed below. If you think your group might be interested in a visit from Toby, Phil, Rob or others, please contact us and we would be happy to arrange it.

New speakers are coming on stream to extend our reach, so Allan Cook (Welsh-speaker) is also available to give talks and host Welsh-medium visits.

Scheduled talks:

  • Friday 2 November 2018: Cwm Taf NHS Retirement Group, Llantwit Fadre (Rob Kenny)
  • Tuesday 9 October: Caerleon Social History Club, Caerleon Town Hall (Rob Kenny)
  • Tuesday 9 October: Severn Estuary Forum, Riverfront Theatre Newport.  (Dr Toby Jones)
  • Saturday 9 October: Sutton Hoo Symposium, Woodbridge, Suffolk (Dr Toby Jones)
  • Tuesday 2 October: Kingswood History Society, Bristol (Phil Cox)
  • Tuesday 2 October: Cyncoed Townswomen Guild, Cyncoed, Cardiff (Dr Toby Jones)

We do ask for a speaker’s fee of at least £35 which goes directly to the project.  For ‘long distance’ talks we may ask for expenses at cost.
